Hello and Happy New Year!
During this holiday season, we can all celebrate together the success of our first year supporting Lázaro’s school on Zapatera Island, Nicaragua. Looking back on our year, it is truly incredible how far our money has gone to provide school supplies and nutrition to the island’s 72 students and 3 teachers.
This final trimester, the presentation even has pictures of how our donations also supported the school’s celebration of Día del niño, or “Kid’s Day!” Lázaro bought a piñata and party materials and the pictures reveal lots of joy of students and their families as they celebrated!

I want to thank you on behalf of the community, the parents of the families, and myself for the support that we received throughout the year due to all of the people that decided to donate their money to the education of the kids of School Denis Martínez on Zapatera Island.
It was a difficult year for me but I still achieved the objective to bring education to the kids up until our final day of school on December 4th, 2015. Thank you for the support that allowed us to obtain many things like educational material and additional nutrition for the kids, which facilitated the work as a teacher. An important milestone was the purchase of a printer. What students had previously spent hours copying by hand, now can be done in seconds.
This year with your support, we were able to paint the school and create an enjoyable environment for the kids. They were very excited and painted the school themselves.
With the collaboration of Katia Cordova, we were able to achieve 2 rowing boats for 14 kids to travel to school, who previously had difficulty arriving to school, and this is no longer a problem.
It was a year with many successes, and everything is due to the noble people like your friends Ben, Matt, and all of you that we do not know but that with all of our heart we thank and beg to God to take care of you and bless greatly. For all of your help that has been enormous for our school and the will to support us, all there is left is for us to thank you for your support which has not gone in vain. Quiero agradecer en nombre de la comunidad, los padres de familia y el mio propio el apoyo que recibimos durante todo el año por parte tuya y todas aquellas personas que decidieron poner su grano de arena en la educación de los niños de la Escuela Denis Martínez en la isla zapatera.
Fue un año difícil para mi pero aun así cumplimos el objetivo de llevar la educación a los niños que el día de hoy 04 de diciembre concluye y gracias al aporte brindado pudimos lograr muchas cosas, materiales educativos, complementos en la alimentación de los niños, esto facilitó el trabajo como maestro, un logro muy importante fue la compra de la impresora, lo que antes pasaba horas copiando a mano, ahora se hace en segundos.
Este año con los aportes conseguidos, pudimos pintar la escuela y crear un ambiente mas agradable a los niños, ellos estaban tan emocionados y fueron ellos mismos quienes pintaron la escuela.
Con la colaboración de Katia Cordova pudimos conseguir dos botes de remos para 14 niños que viajan por agua y que se les hacia difícil llegar a la escuela ahora tienen transporte y no faltaran mas.
Fue un año de muchos éxitos y todo se debe al apoyo de personas muy nobles como tu amigo Ben, Mateo y todos aquellos que no conocemos pero que de todo corazón agradecemos y rogamos a Dios los cuide y bendiga grandemente.
Por toda su ayuda que ha sido gigantesca para nuestra escuela y la voluntad de apoyarnos solo nos resta agradecer y decirles que su apoyo no ha sido en vano, muchas gracias a todos.
